Never thought we’d see the day when literally anybody can have a verified account on Twitter. One day we woke up and suddenly the blue tick was taken away from the rich! We are seeing days when actual celebrities are without Twitter’s blue tick and random people who pay for it can have one. Elon is truly a businessman. Money matters, money speaks. Doesn’t matter if you’re famous or not, you’ve got money to waste on a blue tick, you’re famous on Twitter.
Several celebrities woke up to being tick-less. Actors such as Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Virat Kohli, Shahid Kapoor, etc. are now without the infamous blue tick of Twitter. Big names such as Bill Gates and even the person who created Twitter – Jack Dorsey are now blue tick-less on this platform! Imagine being the real founder and creator of Twitter and not having a verified account on your own platform! Elon Musk seems to enjoy what has now become a dictatorship of his and loves ordering Twitter employees to do the unthinkable things that make Twitter what it is today.
If you are a paying user, you are a verified user on Twitter. Elon really knows how to run a business and get money out of people. 20th April 2023 marks not only 4/20 (the weed day) but was the legendary day Elon decided to take away the blue tick from verified users. Makes sense for a stoner like him to remove such an important part of Twitter on his favorite holiday.
There are hardly a few accounts that have a blue tick on Twitter now. The legendary writer – Stephen King and the G.O.A.T. himself- LeBron James (legendary NBA player), had tweeted earlier stating they would never in their dreams pay for a blue tick. Well, guess Elon Musk respects these two so much that he tweeted that he is personally paying for these two accounts.
Elon Musk is not a fan of how things worked at Twitter prior to his takeover. He felt the Twitter management was elitist bias in verifying all accounts. He said that the Blue Tick system had divided Twitter into two types. So, if you’ve got $8 every month to waste, buy a Blue Tick to look elite and cool for Elon Sir.
